As a licensed dietitian I'm inspired to bring you
my signature granola made locally with organic
whole grain oats.
When it was time to design a website for my
Franola, it was suggested that I include a section
on "my story". I think I responded with a blank
expression. I thought it was going to be all about
the product and what it is and how it is different.
Well it is now the very day that my website is
ready to launch in cyperspace and there sits a
blank box with the caption "my story". I guess I
held out until now because I struggled with the
"my" part of the story. There really wouldn't be a
story if it didn't include you. It all started the first
time I set out to make granola. I experimented
with what I would want out of a granola and what
I would feel good about sharing. I remember the
genuine exclaimations of approval when I first
shared it....the words "magnificient"and
"unbelieveable" still ring in my ears.

One of my favorite Franola stories is what happened the week after I had offered free
samples of it at the community supported organic farm I am involved in. I was standing
beside the vegetable stand when I heard a quiet voice behind me asking if I had any Franola
again this week. I turned around to find this little girl standing before me holding several one
dollar bills in her hand. "I saved up my allowance for it."she adds. Reactions such as these
have been heartwarming and humbling. As a dietitian who specializes in pediatric nutrition, I
can't tell you how that resonates with me on so many levels. I am passionate about children's
health and I care about what they eat. I know how important establishing healthy eating
habits are. I feel good about offering this granola to you and your families. It is because of
the encouragement from all of you and knowing that it is nourishing and good-for-you that
has helped bring a very personal product public. Since that sweet moment at the farm last
summer, many more stories can now be told. I love making it and I love sharing it. I hope
you will find it "unbelievable" and "worth saving your allowance for."
Thank you.
